A Day of Learning, Teamwork and Wellbeing at Our Staff Meeting

Our recent staff meeting was a fantastic opportunity for the team to come together, share ideas, develop our knowledge and focus on how we can continue to provide the very best care and learning experiences for our children.

A Morning Dedicated to Safeguarding

We were delighted to welcome an Early Years Specialist, who joined us for an in-depth safeguarding workshop lasting four hours. The session covered a wide range of important topics, giving our team valuable opportunities to reflect on our responsibilities and strengthen our understanding of how to keep children safe.

Throughout the workshop, we explored the different types of abuse, how to recognise the signs and indicators that a child may be experiencing difficulties, and the importance of knowing how to respond to concerns appropriately. We also looked at e-safety and the importance of keeping children safe in an increasingly digital world.

Real-life case studies provided valuable opportunities for discussion, reflection and learning, helping us consider how safeguarding knowledge can be applied in everyday practice. Alongside these topics, we explored much more, reinforcing the importance of remaining vigilant, working together and always putting children’s safety and wellbeing first.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and sessions like these help ensure that our team remains confident, knowledgeable and committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for every child.

Teamwork and Tasty Treats: Our Potluck Lunch!

After a busy and informative morning, it was time to enjoy a little team building over lunch!

Everyone contributed by preparing a dish for our staff potluck, creating a wonderful opportunity to share food, try something new and enjoy each other’s company. From homemade favourites to delicious new flavours, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Our potluck lunch was a lovely reminder that teamwork extends beyond our daily responsibilities. Taking the time to connect, celebrate our individual contributions and enjoy a shared experience helps strengthen relationships and build a positive team spirit.

An Afternoon of Planning, Reflection and Wellbeing

The afternoon continued with a range of engaging and informative workshops designed to support our professional development and personal wellbeing.

Our room meetings provided dedicated time for teams to come together, discuss priorities and reflect on the needs of their individual rooms. These discussions helped us share ideas, review our approaches and consider how we can continue to enhance the children’s experiences.

Jake then led a Planning, Observation and Next Steps Workshop, focusing on the importance of effective planning and meaningful observations in supporting children’s learning and development. The session offered an opportunity to reflect on how we observe children, identify their interests and learning needs, and use these observations to plan appropriate next steps that help every child progress.

We also took time to focus on something equally important: our own wellbeing. Carol led a wellbeing workshop, encouraging staff to reflect on the importance of looking after themselves alongside supporting the children and colleagues around them. Promoting staff wellbeing is essential to creating a happy, healthy and supportive working environment where everyone feels valued.

Moving Forward Together

Our staff meeting was a valuable and rewarding day, combining essential safeguarding training, collaborative learning, team building and a focus on wellbeing.

We are proud of our team’s enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to learn and grow together. By investing in our professional development and supporting one another, we continue to strengthen the quality of care, education and experiences we provide for our children.

Together, we continue to learn, reflect and grow — always with our children at the heart of everything we do.
