Wellbeing
At Blue Butterfly Montessori, children’s wellbeing, emotional security and safeguarding are at the heart of everything we do. We believe children thrive when they feel safe, valued, emotionally secure and supported within a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Our approach to wellbeing supports the whole child; socially, emotionally, physically and academically, helping children develop confidence, resilience, independence, communication skills and positive relationships from an early age. Through nurturing relationships, child-led learning experiences and carefully prepared environments, we create meaningful opportunities for children to flourish and develop a lifelong love of learning.
We recognise the importance of creating calm, language-rich environments where children feel a strong sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing, supporting them to grow with confidence and security at their own pace.
Nature
At Blue Butterfly Montessori, we believe outdoor learning and meaningful connections with nature play an important role in supporting children’s wellbeing, development and curiosity about the world around them.
Through outdoor exploration, local outings and secure outdoor learning environments, children are encouraged to develop confidence, physical skills, independence and an appreciation for the natural environment through hands-on learning experiences and child-led exploration.
Children also have opportunities to grow vegetables, fruit and herbs within our gardening areas, helping them develop responsibility, confidence and an understanding of healthy lifestyles, sustainability and the natural world.
Nurture
Positive relationships and secure attachments are central to our approach to wellbeing. We believe children flourish when they feel emotionally supported, valued and connected to the people around them.
Our experienced Early Years Educators create warm, nurturing environments where children are encouraged to develop self-confidence, resilience, communication and language skills and emotional wellbeing through supportive relationships and personalised learning experiences.
Through inclusive practice, enriching activities and meaningful learning opportunities, we support every child’s individual interests, strengths and stage of development while encouraging kindness, respect and a strong sense of belonging within our nursery community.
Nourish
At Blue Butterfly Montessori, we are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and positive eating habits from an early age through balanced nutrition and meaningful mealtime experiences.
Our freshly prepared vegetarian meals are made on-site daily within our no added sugar, no added salt, nut-free and egg-free environment. Carefully planned seasonal menus provide balanced, nutritious and flavourful meals that support children’s wellbeing, growth and development.
Children are encouraged to develop independence, confidence and self-care skills during mealtimes through opportunities to self-serve, set tables and participate in age-appropriate routines within a calm and nurturing environment.
We also believe children benefit from understanding where food comes from and the importance of healthy choices. Through gardening experiences, healthy lifestyle activities and positive mealtime experiences, children are supported in developing lifelong healthy habits and positive relationships with food.
Our inclusive approach ensures children with allergies, dietary requirements and individual needs are supported safely and sensitively, helping every child feel included, supported and valued within our nursery community.
