At Blue Butterfly Montessori, we were delighted to welcome our families for a special Mother’s Day Stay and Play session. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the important people in our children’s lives while strengthening our partnership with parents and sharing meaningful learning experiences together. Children were excited to invite their mums or a special family member who represented a mother figure into our Montessori environment, where they could explore activities side by side. From creating beautiful Mother’s Day crafts to enjoying sensory play and practical life activities, the room was full of curiosity, laughter, and creativity. These shared moments supported children’s confidence, communication and language development, as they proudly explained their work and demonstrated their growing independence.
At Blue Butterfly Montessori, we place strong value on diversity, equality, and a true sense of belonging. While the day celebrated Mother’s Day, we also recognised that every family is unique. Children were encouraged to celebrate the special people who care for them, reflecting our commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming community for all families.
Our practitioners used incisive observations throughout the session to notice how children interacted with their families, engaged in play, and demonstrated the characteristics of effective learning such as curiosity, active exploration and creativity. These moments help us continue to support each child’s individual development within a safe, nurturing and enabling environment.
