A warm welcome to our Green Butterflies where we accommodate our Toddlers from approximately 18 months to 30 months old.

Green Butterflies is a spacious, inspiring environment blessed with natural light. As the children have the freedom to learn both indoors and outdoors every day, this inevitably makes Blue Butterfly Montessori a perfect environment to progress and develop in.

Green Butterflies is a hive of activity, whether the children are baking biscuits, getting messy with slime or learning pencil control, it’s all great fun! At this stage of development implementing both the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum alongside the Montessori curriculum will encourage children to learn through play whilst incorporating and offering the freedom to make their own choices.  Keyworkers will be actively encouraging children to participate and explore all educational opportunities and supporting all self- care routines such as washing hands, getting ready and feeding themselves. Real life experiences are essential for children to make sense of the world around them.

The child’s individual learning styles are embraced and begin to express their preferences and interests, be it working in a group or having some time to themselves in order to explore, discover and reflect. This way they get to experience a variety of learning opportunities which are carefully prepared by our highly experienced Early Years Educators.

In Green Butterflies the support of independence helps to develop a strong sense of self and gives each child the confidence to thrive innocently and evolve key life skills. They are given the freedom of choice at mealtimes and encouraged to self-serve therefore preparing them for their transition to Blue Butterflies (Pre-school), where development of independence is one of our top priorities in order to prepare them for their transition to ‘Big School’. When ready, educators will support the toilet training journey making it a positive experience moving on from nappies.

Your child’s caring and attentive keyworker will nurture and scaffold your child’s journey through Green Butterflies acknowledging their individual needs and interests. Our ‘Golden Rules’ play a vital role to support children understanding and respecting one another, educators role model these golden rules using good manners and valuing each other, therefore establishing the key British Values.

The keyworker will assess the 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS- https://www.harrow.gov.uk/childcare/childcare-choices/2) through a two- year report and a parents evening report and meeting every 3 months. This will help parents and careers have a clear understanding of their child’s development.

Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted. – Dr Seuss
